What Is Your Backyard Home Decorating Style?

Summer is in full swing.  Besides a good game of Bottle Bash, the biggest trend is to set up the backyard as an extension of the inside of the home.   Here are some fun styles and colors.  Which one matches your own personal style?

Boho Punk
For those not afraid of color, take on the trend of adding bold hues. Match weathered a teak table with fuchsia painted seating.   The traditional pedestal dining table you would see in a dining room is now outdoors!  The backyard is another fun room to decorate. If you add color through chairs and accessories like pads and decor, its easier and budget friendly to change out in the future!

Natural And Rustic
We are seeing natural materials inside the home and outside spaces as well!  Outdoor covered porches with distressed wood ceilings and beams.  Stone is very popular also.  The use of rattan and teak lend to this look as well.  Hang a candle chandelier with vintage worn elements.  Be prepared for your outdoor pieces to develop a weather gray look over time.

Coastal Cool Hue
Layers of ivory and soft blues lend to a relaxing vibe whether indoors or outdoors.  Textures are the key to this look.  Woven sisal rugs work well with this look.

Parisian Blue
A sweet classic for indoor or outdoor dining.  Pieces to include would be full of sophistication that include elaborate details, an old world sense of vintage, and mixing pieces as shown below.

Beach Chic
Who doesn't love a Hamptons feel?  Worn, vintage and has a sophisticated relaxed color scheme.  Bring this look to your own backyard by adding muted color tones, tall lanterns, rattan and wood furniture.  Comfort and a mix of lots of creamy white is key!

What is your backyard decorating style?  I have been enjoying looking at so many photos of backyard spaces online to see where the trends are at.  This Wednesday at 8:50 am on WFMZ TV 69 News At Sunrise I will share FIVE styles that one can be inspired by, and implement easily!

After the show we will have a post about the television segment, and have a link to view it as well.

Jewel Toned Bedroom Sitting Room

Happy Friday!  I finished such a fun project that I had to share a part of it with you.  I worked with a client on her master bedroom and her inspiration was India.  I love global influenced rooms so we had a good time infusing jewel tones, sumptuous layers of texture, and ornate patterns.

We decided to remove all the white from the room so it would really encompass that worldly vibe.  All the doors and trim work was painted a deep dark brown.  It made a huge difference in the overall look.  Easy tip to get this look.

We started with grass cloth wallpaper on the back wall.  the jewel toned frames and all the other metal tones had a bigger impact with the textural paper behind them.

The moorish patterned rug lifted color and pattern from the floor up.  This is a great fix for underwhelming carpet - add a large yummy rug.

Indian inspired block printed fabric is my personal favorite.  Hanging it from a golden jewel tone rod finishes the look.
Indian textiles include colorful silks.  We used two luxurious silk pillows that were given to my client as a gift from India.

Time to put your feet up and have a glass of wine!  Its Friday!  Enjoy!

Small Home Bar Renovation Is Finished

Happy Fourth of July!  If you are chillin' today waiting for the fireworks to start why not check out the photos from this home renovation we completed recently.

This is a true little gem of a space!  Its five feet wide by ten feet long with cabinetry on two walls that face each other.

BEFORE                                                                 AFTER

After removing the current back splash, appliances and counter top, we brought in a painter to spray all the stained wood.
We used Benjamin Moore's Dove White (OC 17) on all the wood and Benjamin Moore's Sea Star (2123 30) for the ceiling and the back wall of all glass cabinets.

We replaced the small sink with a larger 15" undermounted stainless steel sink.  We also installed a new glass front refrigerator and ice maker.  The counter top is quartz and called Detnal Azul Iran Pentel with an eased edge.

The arabesque glass back splash tiles are from Glazzio.  We used three different colors of blue and arranged them on the floor so the tiler would know the design we wanted.  We did not want a specific pattern; more free forming.  This was very helpful for the contractor!  I recommend it.

Behind the bar there is floor to ceiling built in cabinetry.  We had the cabinets spray painted Benjamin Moore's Dove White (OC 17) like the bar and Benjamin Moore's Sea Star (2123 30) the back wall of all glass cabinets.  This was a very tricky project for the painter but they did a great job!

We also filled in the holes of the original cabinet knobs and replaced them with larger satin gold toned pulls.
