The original mantel was a simple small wood ledge (see photo below). We 'chunked it up' by designing a larger box made of oak to fit around it. We had the wood stained, beat up and installed by scribing it in against the stone.
The bookcases were painted a crisp white. We used Benjamin Moore's Chantilly Lace ( OC 65 ). This really brightened up the stone fireplace. The backs of the bookcases were painted a lovely green apple color. We used Benjamin Moore's Dill Pickle ( 2147-40 ).
I am a lighting nut! We changed out the original white fan with this more artful wood product that is just lovely to look at. It has three long turned blades. So nice on the eyes!

The two teal blue chairs are swivel gliders that are not only so fun to sit in, but the color is a great soft tone that partners well with the green.
The wall art between the windows was a last minute addition that has a fun story to it. We needed something to fill the space but nothing worked. We spotted the homeowners basket full of light bulbs and created instant art! We then added the pear for color. Ta da!

We fell for this watercolor floral print and knew it had to have center stage. It is so pretty!
Since the kitchen is open to the family room we addressed it also. We flipped for this chandelier.
The entire family room and kitchen were painted in Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter ( HC 172 ).
The table runner was a Home Goods find. It looks and feels like a flat weave rug. It is very cool!
With ten foot ceilings, then linen blend floral patterned drapes add coziness without overwhelming the room.
